If you haven't yet had the opportunity to visit the Ile de Ré and don't know exactly what to visit, where to go for a walk and what activities to do, Villanovo is there for you!
We have concocted a small guide for your first time on the Ile de Ré so that your stay will be perfect and unforgettable.
Equidistant between Nantes and Bordeaux, the Ile de Ré is located at the level of the Atlantic coast and is connected to La Rochelle by a famous bridge located 42 meters above the sea and nearly 3,000 meters long. To come by car, carpool or bus, you will have to take the bridge, which is open all week long 24 hours a day. Please note that the passage on the bridge is paid only on the outward journey, the old toll having been replaced by an ecotax since 2012. You contribute to the natural preservation of the island just by using the bridge.
The Ile de Ré offers a superb and restful living environment that it is pleasant to enjoy from a luxurious villa proposed by Villanovo. If you wish to escape during a stay on the Ile de Ré in a villa with a swimming pool, you will be won over by the modern Villa Prélude which has not only a large swimming pool but also a jacuzzi. If you wish to immerse yourself in a natural setting and surround yourself with lush vegetation, Villa Siloé is ideal. Don't hesitate to invite your friends as this luxurious villa can accommodate up to 10 people.
Located on the seafront, the Ile de Ré is the perfect place to enjoy a fresh seafood platter or a fish of the day. Whether for an aperitif or a meal, Ile de Ré has many gourmet addresses that you will find while strolling along the seaside where you are sure to enjoy yourself.
If you wish to have lunch or dinner at your villa, Villanovo recommends you to go to the island's markets to get fresh local food for an exceptional meal cooked by you. Otherwise, Villanovo offers a choice of villas with domestic staff to make your stay even more enjoyable.
On the Île de Ré, you can enjoy many entertaining water activities with family or friends to spend some fields days and maybe learn a new discipline. In addition, a must-see activity is to visit the famous lighthouse on the West side of Île de Ré, whose construction began in 1849. If you are travelling as a couple or with friends, you can also have a wine tasting and visit the cooperative cellar located on the road from Sainte-Marie-de-Ré to Bois-Plage.
